Activate Office 2024 with a key: step-by-step guide

The steps
Install Office
Use the official Microsoft download link in your email. Close any other Office applications before you start.
Open an application
Open Word or Excel. If Office asks for the key at first start, enter it right there.
Open File › Account
Under “Product Information”, click “Change Product Key”.
Enter the key and activate
Type the 25 characters, then click “Activate”.
Check
In File › Account, the words “Product Activated” should appear.
Special cases
- Key to enter on office.com/setup: some Office keys are entered on Microsoft’s website. Follow the method on Microsoft’s page if your email says so.
- Office already installed: you do not need to reinstall it, just enter the key as described above.
If activation fails
Note the error message, then reply to the delivery email with a screenshot. A technician checks the key and sends you a replacement key or refunds you.
